How Will Clinton's Win In Pennsy Affect Her Efforts In Indiana?

Last updated on Wednesday, April 23, 2008

(BLOOMINGTON) - New York Senator Hillary Clinton is now in a precarious position coming into the Indiana and North Carolina primaries.

She won the Pennsylvania primary last night by 10 points, which is more than most analysts thought she would get, many estimating a 7 to 8 point spread. However, at the same time, it wasn't by as much as she technically needed.

Many analysts were showing, before the Pennsylvania vote, that Senator Clinton needed to grab 64% of all delegates that were left, pledged, super and everything in between. And now, moving into indiana, she's coming with a bit of a mixed bag.

She's down by 5 points in Hoosier polls, and she's trailing handily in cash compared to Illinois Senator Barack Obama, however, she has the endorsement of the most powerful Democrat in Indiana, Senator Evan Bayh, and she may have momentum from last night's victory.

Look for both Clinton and Obama to be traveling Hoosier country extensively up through the May 6th primary vote, since North Carolina is showing a heavy lead for Obama.

Obama is in New Albany this morning holding a town hall meeting, Clinton will be in Bloomington Friday speaking at the IU Assembly Hall.

The Clinton event opens doors at 11:00 Friday morning and the senator should arrive by 1:00pm.
