(INDIANAPOLIS) - Next Tuesday, voters in the 7th Congressional District will choose between paper ballots and touch-screen voting machines.
The touch screens are required for those with disabilities, but any voter can use them. There's only one race on the ballot -- to name a successor to the late Congresswoman Julia Carson.
The candidates are her grandson, Democrat Andre Carson, Republican Jon Elrod and Libertarian Sean Shepherd.
Marion County Clerk Beth White says her office is prepared. The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot has passed, but you can vote early in the clerk's office at the city building through noon Monday.
The close race between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton creates heightened interest in the Indiana presidential primary is set for May 6th. But White says that has little impact on the preparation for that vote.
There's plenty to do already with county offices, school board and other local races on that ballot.
