(UNDATED) - Indiana’s newest congressman is also Indiana’s newest Democratic superdelegate.

Seventh District Congressman Andre Carson was in Plainfield for Barack Obama's first Indiana appearance of the campaign. He says he's met and heard both Obama and Hillary Clinton several times, but still hasn't decided which one he'll support for the nomination.

"Both are extremely bright, brilliant," Carson says. "They articulate the issues very well. Both have a heart for the people, a love for the people, and that's what's important to be a public servant."

Both candidates sent congratulations within hours of Carson's special election victory last week. Democratic members of Congress are automatically delegates to the party's August convention.

Indiana has 12 of the superdelegates whose votes are expected to determine the nominee.

The five democrats in Indiana's U.S. House delegation are the only ones who remain uncommitted. Five of the others, including Sen. Evan Bayh, support Clinton, while two have endorsed Obama.
