Schools Working To Prevent Flu, Swine Or Otherwise
(LOGANSPORT) - As the number of cases of swine flu grows, schools across Indiana are stressing to parents that there are already plans in place should the outbreak grow to a pandemic.
Jeff Canady is principal of Lincoln Middle School in Logansport says they have been planning for any type of pandemic for years. Part of the plan is to monitor for signs and symptoms of the virus.
Canady says preventative measures are very important to stop spreading any flu. Students are being reminded to wash their hands often and to cover their mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing.
There is a plan in place should it be necessary to close schools during the outbreak; however, Canady cautions such a decision is not necessary at this time.
He also says school custodians have always sanitized classrooms, locker rooms and cafeterias to prevent germs from spreading.
