(UNDATED) - Make sure your kids gets a healthy breakfast this morning: the second round of spring ISTEP testing begins later today.
The first part, which included essay and short answer questions, was given in March. This second round involves multiple choice and will last through the first week of May.
State School Superintendent Dr. Tony Bennett says the two are separated in an effort to return students results faster. Results will be released in August after passing scores are adopted by the State Board of Education.
The multiple choice portion is worth 70% to 75% of a student's total score. Bennett encourages parents to talk to their children about the importance of ISTEP.
He says the best preparation is to provide year-round educational support.
