(INDIANAPOLIS) - Butler University broke ground on a new building that will add a bit of green to the royal blue and white campus.

The $14 million dollar addition to the pharmacy and health sciences building will accommodate classes that are currently held off-campus and consolidate faculty offices in one building. It includes several energy-saving features such as heat being generated by the university's data center which will move there.

The building's high energy efficiency qualifies it for silver-level certification as prescribed by the U.S. Green Building Council. It will be the third silver-level leadership in energy and environmental design building in the state. Only platinum and gold levels are greener.

The 40,000 square foot addition is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2009.
