Ball State Study Shows Pets And Owners Share Common Traits
(MUNCIE) - We’ve all heard that some people look like their pets, but a new Ball State survey claims that owners might act like them as well.
BSU Psychological Science Professor Lucinda Woodward says her study of more than 400 pet owners shows that most see themselves as having personalities like their companions.
Outgoing pet owners found their canine companions to be more friendly than cats. Cats were rated by their owners as more independent.
Woodward hopes her study will be used by shelters to match humans with their ideal pets.
The researcher is now working to debunk another popular pet myth that claims people are less likely to adopt black dogs. She says her latest study indicates pet owners are more concerned with breed traits than color.
