(INDIANAPOLIS) - School officials have shelved a proposed settlement with a teacher who could lose her job for disobeying orders not to use a racially-themed book in her classroom.
Instead of considering the proposed settlement with Connie Heermann, the Perry Township School Board went into a closed-session meeting to discuss her future at Perry Meridian High School.
She was placed on administrative leave in November after continuing to use the "Freedom Writers Diary" despite a supervisor's order to stop using it in her classroom.
