(INDIANAPOLIS) - Eight Indianapolis public schools are getting music programs. That’s thanks to a grant from the “VH1 Save The Music” Foundation, which strives to keep arts and music in public schools.
To celebrate the $240,000 dollar grant, the Broad Ripple High School orchestra and Colman Academy band put on a show at the state house Tuesday.
IPS Superintendent Eugene White says music education is critical to education and can make all the difference in a student's life.
As of now, 44 out of 58 IPS elementary schools have instrumental music programs. White says all 58 will have a program by 2010.
