(UNDATED) - A national foundation is using Indiana to launch a program that pays for masters degrees for teachers who pledge to teach math in high-need schools in the state.

The Woodrow Wilson Fellowship Foundation will begin taking applications for a program this year and fellows will be named in 2009.

Fellows will receive a $30,000 stipend to complete a masters degree at Ball State, Purdue, IUPUI or the University of Indianapolis.

They will pledge to then teach math and science in high-need secondary schools in urban and rural areas for three years.
