School Budgets Could Be Slashed Due To Property Tax Caps

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Senate Democrats say Indiana schools could lose more than $150 million dollars in 2010 because of proposed caps on property taxes.
The Senate is considering a bill that would reduce property taxes by a projected $600 million in 2010, money that would then become unavailable for schools.
Democrats say urban districts would be hit hardest. They called today for the state to make up for the potential shortfall if the bill passes.
