Teaching Fellowship To Support Replacements Of Retiring Teachers
(UNDATED) - Indiana is the first state in the nation to launch the Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship, supported by a 10 million dollar grant from the Lilly Endowment.
Governor Mitch Daniels says the program aims to revitalize the teaching of teachers in the state. The fellowship is designed to help replace the one third of Indiana's teachers who will be retiring in the next five years.
Fellows receive $30,000 dollars to complete a year-long master's degree from one of Indiana's four participating universities for teaching math or science. In exchange, they agree to teach in a high-need school in Indiana for three years.
