(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indianapolis Public Schools dedicated a new technical program for teens, the second of its kind in the nation.

It's Indiana's first high school truck and diesel technology program. IPS Superintendent Eugene. G. White says its a major step forward for the school system.

Located at the Career and Technology Center at Tech High School, it's supported by a one million dollar investment from Navistar International Corporation.

Greg Elliott of Navistar explained the company's 70-year history of building engines in Indy made putting the program here a good choice.

Former Indiana Pacer and local businessman George McGinnis is on the advisory committee for the course and was instrumental in getting it here. McGinnis says successfully completing the program could lead to a technical career or a way to finance college tuition.
