Emergency Alert System Tested On University Of Indianapolis Campus

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Thousands of University of Indianapolis students, staff, and parents received an emergency alert via e-mail and voice mail Tuesday afternoon.
It was a test of the new alert system known as "Watchdog." "Watchdog" is similar to alert programs on other Indiana campuses like Purdue and IU.
Jeff Russell is Chief Information Officer for the University of Indianapolis. He says they'll test it a few more times. The goal is to add text messaging to the alert system for the second semester.
Universities across the country implemented emergency alert systems following the massacre at Virginia Tech University back in the spring.
