Martin University President Search Underway

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The public is invited to attend a series of receptions this week to meet the candidates for president of Martin University in Indianapolis.
Reverend Father Boniface Hardin, who founded the school in 1977, is retiring effective December 31st.
Over the past year, the university's search committee has reviewed applications from approximately 70 candidates and narrowed it down to four. The finalists are: Dr. Algeania Freeman, President and CEO of the Freeman Group, Inc.; Dr. Walter Howard, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Development Services at Allen University in Columbia, S.C.; Dr. Lelia L. Vickers, a recognized leader in the accreditation of teacher preparation programs; and Dr. Bernice Bass De Martinez, chair of the Special Education, Rehabilitation, School Psychology and Deaf Studies department at California State University in Sacramento.
The board of trustees will have one final interview with each candidate later this month and then will meet to make a final determination.
The new president will take over on January 1st.
