Last updated on Friday, October 19, 2007
(INDIANAPOLIS) - The retiring president and founder of Martin University in Indianapolis received Indiana’s highest honor Thursday.
The reverend Boniface Hardin was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash by Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman.
Hardin calls it a great honor and says this award symbolizes the strides African-Americans have made across the state.
Hardin will retire at the end of the year from the post he's held since 1977.
