Indy School Receives Honors
(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis elementary school is receiving two major honors.
Lakeside Elementary is the recipient of a Title I grant for $25-thousand dollars. Lakeside is also being recognized with the Blue Ribbon Award.
Foster says the school faces some tough odds. Many students come from lower-income households and the school is in an urban area.
Foster says these awards show that Lakeside beat those odds in test scores and overall achievement.
Foster says the school would not be where it is without great teachers and strong parental input. Foster says they use a "success period" to either help students who have fallen behind or those who have moved ahead and need enrichment.
