(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis has launched a new science program which seeks to interweave museum exhibits with its website.

Scienceport offers kids four biotech experiments they can do at home, from growing mold to watching a plant sprout from soil. Kids download basic instructions from the museum website, visit the museum to collect necessary materials, then finish the project at home.

School liaison Rick Crosslin says the goal is to get kids excited about scientific inquiry. If Scienceport is a hit, the museum hopes to create a second set of learning modules next year linking to the Dinosphere dinosaur exhibit or other museum attractions.

Crosslin says some existing exhibits might be converted to the Scienceport model.

Scienceport's grand opening was Saturday.
