(WEST LAFAYETTE) - Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management will next month celebrate its 50th anniversary during homecoming weekend.

Several activities are planned October 24-25, including a lecture by a former Nobel Prize winning economist.

Dean Rick Cosier says the school has come a long way and today finds entrepreneurship and economic development among its focuses.

Cosier says engagement is a big part of the mission at Krannert and Purdue. In 1986, the school held its first business plan competition and today it has five competitions. The school also features entrepreneurship projects and weekend MBA classes.

Cosier says entrepreneurship programs are in demand with students. He says Purdue offers an entrepreneurship certificate on campus that now has about 1000 students involved.

Cosier says Krannert has undergone many changes over the years, including a new state-of-the-art building, which was completed in 2003.
