(MUNCIE) - David Letterman is returning to his alma mater Friday.

Letterman will be at Ball State University in Muncie to help dedicate the $21 million dollar communications building that bears his name. The "David Letterman Communication and Media Building" is a state-of-the art facility.

A 1970 graduate, Letterman has kept close ties with Ball State. The university gets frequent mentions on his nightly talk show. Letterman has provided scholarship funding to the university as well.

Ball State officials are estimating a crowd of thousands will attend the ceremony. The dedication ceremony will begin at 4 pm.
