(UNDATED) - It’s a new way to combat an old problem. The anti-hazing hotline is now up and running.

Twenty one fraternities and sororities are backing this hotline, as a way to combat hazing.

Dan McCarthy is with Cincinnati-based Manley Burke, a law firm. McCarthy says the hot line records messages and their legal team can then turn over the information to a sorority or fraternities' national office.

McCarthy says, while Greeks nationwide have tried to crack down on the practice of humiliating or intimidating new members, the practice is making a comeback.

The term "hazing" refers to any activity expected of someone joining a group (or to maintain full status in a group) that humiliates, degrades or risks emotional and/or physical harm, regardless of the person's willingness to participate.

The number to call to report hazing is 1-888-NOTHAZE.
