IU Medicine School Receives Grant
(UNDATED) - The Indiana University School of Medicine has received an 11.5 million dollar grant from the National Institutes of Health to study the cause and treatment of heart failure in children.
The school says the research could also impact adults with congenital heart defects. IU says the research recognition from the grant will help IU recruit top cardiologists and pediatric cardiology researchers.
Doctor Mark Payne, a pediatric cardiologist, says the research may also impact adults with congenital heart defects. He says surgical interventions in youth can lead to functional problems that manifest later in life.
