Girls Going Home With Cervical Cancer Fact Sheets
(UNDATED) - Sixth-grade girls will go home from school with something new this year: a fact sheet about cervical cancer.
A new state law requires parents to be informed about a new vaccine that can prevent the human papillomavirus, which causes cervical cancer. Legislators stopped short of other states' action to require the vaccine.
The Indiana State Department of Health drafted the fact sheet. Next year, parents will be asked to fill out a sheet saying whether they had their daughters vaccinated or not.
