(EVANSVILLE) - The University of Evansville plans to build an outdoor classroom for the school’s environmental studies program on eleven-hundred acres of land donated by Vectren Corporation.
The land is in Gibson County along the Wabash River, Northwest of Evansville.
Vectren president and CEO Niel Ellerbrook says the company has planted 120-thousand trees on the land to help offset carbon emissions from the company's power plants.
Vectren placed a permanent conservation easement on the property
and enrolled it in the U.S. natural resource conservation service's wetlands reserve program.
