Spelling Bee Eliminates Hoosier Spellers
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The last Hoosier has been eliminated from the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Sameer Mishra of West Lafayette was one of 33 spellers to reach the sixth round, after starting the day by correctly spelling "didymous." but he used an "i" instead of an "o" to spell "myoclonus," a word for an involuntary muscle contraction.
Ten of the 13 Indiana spellers were eliminated Wednesday. The other two survivors went out on their first round of the day Thursday.
