Purdue Seniors Win In Classic Air Race
(WEST LAFAYETTE) - Two aviation technology students from Purdue University placed first among college teams in the annual Air Race Classic.
Senior pilot Katie Sparrow and senior co-pilot Marie Janus began at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and covered over 2,500 miles finishing in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. Forty-seven total teams competed in the collegiate race.
Sparrow and Janus received a total of $1,650 in prize money for their efforts. The Air Race Classic began in 1929 and is the longest running and only remaining women's air race.
