Purdue Presents First Neil Armstrong Medal Of Excellence

(WEST LAFAYETTE) - Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, has made a rare public appearance at his alma mater to present retiring Purdue president Martin Jischke with a medal.
Purdue created the Neil Armstrong Medal of Excellence this year for outstanding contributions to the student experience at Purdue. Jischke is the first recipient.
Purdue trustees will decide each year whether to award the medal, Armstrong has veto power over the selections.
