Indy Schools Adopt Dress Code

Last updated on Thursday, June 21, 2007

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The state’s largest school district has adopted a strict dress code that will require its 37,000 students to wear solid-colored pants and shirts with collars this fall.

Indianapolis Public Schools students will no longer be allowed to wear jeans, clothing with any markings, shirts that reveal midriffs or pants that sag below the waist. Belts are required for all students.

The school board voted six-to-one Tuesday to adopt the new dress code.
