(WEST LAFAYETTE) - Students in grades 6 through 8 have until June 4th to complete and on line application for a summer engineering camp at Purdue University.

Summer camp Program Director Suzanne Zurn-Birkhimer says the leap or love engineering at Purdue camp runs from July 25th through the 27th and encourages young girls to use various engineering math skills.

Past activities have included designing a playground, building a flashlight that doesn't need batteries, and building a camera.

This will be the 6th year for the camp. This year's programs focus on alternative and renewable forms of energy.

Students will design and build a hydraulic robot, wind power projects and solar power projects.
