University Officials Study Professor's Legal Activities
(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University officials have convened a group to study how a law professor used school funds to fight for the rights of Indiana wineries.
Professor Alex Tanford says he has not overstepped his legal rights by representing wineries which claimed they had the right to mail their products across state lines.
State Senate President Pro Tem David Long says he believes it's inappropriate for a state employee to be on the rolls as a professor at I.U. and working as outside counsel for wine producers.
Tanford contends the cases have aided his teaching and says he hasn't used taxpayer dollars to help fund the suits.
