United States Treasurer Talks To Childrens
(INDIANAPOLIS) - United States Treasurer Anna Escobedo Cabral was in Indianapolis Thursday talking to a group of monetarily-minded schoolchildren.
Cabral spoke to 175 graduates of the Young Banker's Club, which seeks to teach low- and middle-income children about financial literacy.
Cabral says schooling about money varies widely from state to state and says the Indianapolis program--which benefits five schools--makes a difference. She says the students asked frequently about what the U.S. Treasurer does and how she got the job.
Cabral adds she knows Governor Mitch Daniels from prior work together in Washington, but says she has not had any conversations with him about plans to bring new revenue to the state, like privatization of roads.
