Indiana Teacher Receives National Award
(INDIANAPOLIS) - A Central Indiana teacher is being honored as the “National Physical Education Teacher Of The Year.”
Indianapolis' Rosa Parks-Edison Elementary Health and Fitness Instructor Roberta Sipe was picked by The National Association of Sport and Physical Education following a yearlong evaluation process that included writing essays, submitting letters of recommendation and videotaping a lesson with her young students.
As "National Physical Education Teacher Of The Year," Sipe could be asked to travel to other parts of the country to present her teaching methods. She advocates techniques that involve music, games, and constant movement.
The award marks the first time an educator in the metropolitan school district of Perry Township received the distinction.
