Study Shows Tax Money Going To Wrong Schools
(UNDATED) - A new report shows Indiana tax dollars regularly go to the incorrect public school systems.
The Milton and Rose Friedman Foundation says as much as $64-million was paid in 2005 to support students who weren't even attending classes. The Indianapolis Public Schools received $17-million to fund programs for more than 2,700 students who'd left the district.
By contrast, some school districts were left out in the cold. Hamilton southeastern schools were underfunded by more than a million bucks after ledgers failed to recognize an increase of three hundred pupils there.
