No More School Snacks

(BLOOMINGTON) - A long-time birthday tradition in elementary schools is being halted by Bloomington officials.
Parents are being asked not to make snacks for the members of their child's class as a birthday treat.
Health officials say the practice actually violates state guidelines for healthy eating in schools because sickness could easily be introduced to large numbers of kids in this manner.
Parents are being encouraged to push celebrations which do not include food.
