IU Professors Studies Human/Robot Interaction
(BLOOMINGTON) - An Indiana University scientist has performed a study he believes will help Informatics experts create the most appealing robots.
Informatics is the study of information processing in both natural and artificial systems. Associate Informatics professor Karl MacDorman says his research with 56 Indonesian college students shows people are more comfortable with robots that resemble their own form.
But MacDorman says robots that look too much like humans actually scare us. The informatics expert will travel to Vancouver this week to present his findings. By studying our response to robots, he believes we learn more about human interaction.
