(BLOOMINGTON) - The man leaving the position as president of Indiana University is going to help search for his own replacement.
Officials with the I.U. Board of Trustees announced Tuesday the 24 members of the two committees that will appoint a new leader to the school. The search committee is comprised of administrators, faculty, and trustees, while the advisory committee has faculty from all over the state.
The goal is to spend the summer searching for a replacement for Dr. Adam Herbert, who is leaving when his contract is up in 2008. Herbert came under fire throughout his term for various problems, including the controversy surrounding the appointment of a school vice president.
Herbert says he wants to give the trustees "maximum flexibility" to find the best person for the job. Trustee Sue Talbot, who is heading the search committee, says a choice could be made as soon as next summer.
