COLUMBUS—Columbus, Indiana’s Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation hasn’t had the best publicity lately.

Last week they acknowledged that they had over-estimated the number of students they served in the 1990's, and now have to pay big dollars back to the state.

The latest news explains one of their school bus drivers failed to follow a policy that requires drivers to check for students at the end of their routes.

A sleeping 5th grader was left on a bus when driver Denise Hill returned home. The boy awakened and began to walk to school about a mile away.

Hill lost her job and said it was the first time the students neglected to alert her to a sleeping child.
