Participate in Job Fair

 

On October 24, 2007, this SEU participated in a job fair sponsored by the Indiana Broadcasters Association at the Sheraton Hotel in Indianapolis, IN.  Our SEU ran commercials on air to help promote the event.  More than 100 job seekers attended the event at which our Sales Manager and a Sales Executive were available to discuss employment opportunities.

Participate in Job Fair

 

On February 23, 2008, this SEU participated in a job fair sponsored by the Indiana Broadcasters Association at the Sheraton Hotel in Indianapolis, IN.  Our SEU ran commercials ran commercials on air to help promote the event. Approximately thirty employers attended.  Our President and Engineer as well as a member of our Board of Directors attended the event and provided information to potential applicants.

Participate in event sponsored by educational institution relating to career opportunities in broadcasting

On February 19, 2008, this SEU participated in Bedford North Lawrence High School’s career day.  This SEU’s employees held two assemblies during which employees spoke about future career opportunities, the day-to-day operation of a radio station, and the skills needed to excel.  In addition to the talks and a laptop presentation, employees were available to answer questions the students had about the station. Our Sales Manager, Programming Director, General Manager, and several Sales Executives attended the event.

Participate in event sponsored by educational institution relating to career opportunities in broadcasting

 

On April 29, 2007, our General Manager, Programming Director, Promotions Director, and Sales Manager attended Oolitic Middle School’s Career Day.  In addition, our General Manager, Sales Manager, and Programming Director attended Bedford Middle School’s Career Day on May 6, 2007.  Our employees distributed information about the station and spoke to the fifth, sixth, and seventh graders about future career opportunities, daily operations of radio stations, and the skills they need to excel.

Internship program

Since September 2007, this SEU has been hosting an intern from Orleans High School, who will complete her internship in May 2008.  This intern has worked with our General Manager, Programming Director, Office Manager, Sales Manager, News Director, and Assistant Program Director as part of our structured internship program. The rotational program provides training in board operations, traffic information, music programming, sales, script writing and recording, and news operations.  This marks the third year for our internship program.

Participate in scholarship program

In February 2008, this SEU ran commercials on our stations to solicit students to compete for annual broadcast scholarships awarded by the Indiana Broadcasters Association.  As part of our annual involvement in the program, we distribute and collect applications for this scholarship.  We also actively participate in the selection of the scholarship recipient.  This SEU has been participating in this scholarship for several years.
