(INDIANAPOLIS) - The economy threatens to spoil prom night, but Indianapolis area dress and tuxedo rental shops say the kids will have their special night.

At Raelynn's Boutique in Greenwood, co-owner Alison McDaniel suggests that customers on a budget think about using accessories. She says some of the girls tell her they'll wear last year's shoes but they still spend their money on a dress.

Manager Bill Sanders at the Men's Wearhouse store in Indianapolis says, "It's still that one special night." He says young men may choose to drive dad's car instead of renting a limousine, but they're still renting tuxedos.

Sanders recalls the night he drove his father's brand new Buick to his own prom. He says the car got "dinged in the parking lot" and he still "hasn't heard the end of it."
