Last updated on Monday, November 24, 2008
(BURNS HARBOR) - Steel producer Arcelormittal plans to lay off over 2,400 workers from its Burns Harbor facility in January.
The company recently announced cuts in U.S. production of forty percent shortly after the united steelworkers negotiated a new four year contract with the porter county plant.
The layoff announcement came on the same day that Arcelormittal posted a 29 percent increase in profits for the third quarter.
