(EVANSVILLE) - Whirlpool Corporation has announced it is cutting approximately 5,000 jobs by the end of 2009, but it’s unclear if any will happen at its Evansville, Indiana plant.
The nation's largest home appliance maker says the global credit crisis and sharp drop in demands are forcing them to close its Jackson, Tennessee facility and transfer production to the Findlay, Ohio location.
This is in addition to the four plant closures announced earlier this year.
Whirlpool, whose brands include Maytag, KitchenAid and Jenn-Air, has 73,000 employees worldwide.
