Mixed News For Indiana Toyota Plant
(PRINCETON) - Toyota Motor Company has announced the shifting of more manufacturing capacity to their Princeton, Indiana plant.
The facility in Gibson County currently manufactures the Tundra full-size pickup, Sequoia SUV and Sienna minivan.
Now, production of the mid-size Highlander SUV will be moved to Princeton.
Toyota made the decision after deciding to build the Prius hybrid sedan at their new plant in Blue Springs, Mississippi instead of the Highlander.
However, at the same time, the plant is scheduled to shut down for 3 months, due to the steep drop in demand for full-size truck-based vehicles, and as Toyota consolidates all Tundra manufacturing at their main truck plant in San Antonio, Texas.
