Diesel Engine Plant To Halt Production
(INDIANAPOLIS) - International Truck and Engine will temporarily stop diesel engine production Friday at its Indianapolis plant.
The move will idle several hundred workers until the end of a summer shutdown in mid July.
Company Spokesman Roy Wiley says the employees will be laid off until June 30th, and the previously scheduled shutdown will last until July 14th.
Wiley declined to comment on the number of employees affected, but a union official told The Indianapolis Star 500 workers would be affected.
