Smithville Telecomm Expanding Fiber Based Broadband Network
(ELLETTSVILLE) - The Smithville Telecomm company will spend $90-million dollars over the next three years to bring fiber-based broadband to its 17-county service area.
CEO Darby McCarty says 90% of Smithville's 29,000 customers already have high-speed internet, but says gaps in the network hinder the area's ability to market itself to new businesses.
Monroe, Orange and Greene counties should go online later this year. Smithville's service area is concentrated in Southwest Indiana, but reaches as far north as Howard County.
