Nevada Casino Owner In Talks To Purchase Casino Aztar
(EVANSVILLE) - Gary Carano, president and chief operating officer of Eldorado, toured the Casino Aztar Boat and Hotels in Evansville earlier this week.
The Reno, Nevada company has said it would pay as much as $245-million for the property, which was put up for sale in December by Columbia Sussex.
Carano flew to Evansville Wednesday night to meet with employees and managers at the boat. Also in on the chats were Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel and Robert "Tom" Dingman, hired by the Indiana Gaming Commission as a trustee to run Casino Aztar until the agency can decide whether it will grant Eldorado a casino license.
If Eldorado is allowed to buy Aztar, Carano says he feels confident he can improve the boat, which has been performing poorly in recent years.
