Janitors Strike Deal With Employers
(INDIANAPOLIS) - A new contract is in place between janitors and major companies across Central Indiana.
The contract got unanimous support over the weekend from thousands of janitorial workers. Leslie Mendoza Kamstra with Justice for Janitors says the new deal offers affordable health care, paid vacation, better hours, and better pay.
Kamstra says many janitors were struggling to make ends meet and had to take several jobs. The new deal takes effect may first.
Janitors had been protesting for months for better working conditions.
