Hosting Super Bowl Means 365 Million Dollar Boost

(MUNCIE) - A new study shows Indianapolis stands to gain more than just hundreds of millions in revenue from hosting the Super Bowl.
Ball State Professor Michael Hicks says getting the gig in 2012 would mean a $365-million economic boost, but the study shows cities who get the hosting job also see a spike in future convention and tourism business.
Hicks says convention planners look at cities that can hold major events successfully. Business and community leaders will make the formal pitch to NFL owners in mid-May.
Glendale and Houston are also competing to host the 2012 Super Bowl.
