Alcoa Plans To Cut Power Plant Emissions, Install Scrubbers
(NEWBURGH) - Alcoa wants to install air scrubbers to cut sulfur dioxide and other emissions at a Southern Indiana power plant.
The company is seeking an air permit for the planned upgrades to the 742-megawatt, coal-fired plant about 15 miles east of Evansville.
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management says the scrubbers are expected to lower the Warrick County plant's emissions of sulfur dioxide by 54,000 tons a year, nitrous oxide by 1,500 tons and particulate matter by 750 tons.
