Stricter Ozone Rules May Push Factories To Rural Areas

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Patrick Bennett of the Indiana Manufacturers Association says the federal government’s new smog standards could push industrial development in Indiana away from urban areas and into rural counties.

But environmental activists say the stricter ozone standard doesn't go far enough.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's new rules lower its 8-hour standard for ground-level ozone -- smog's primary ingredient--from 84 parts per billion to 75 parts per billion.
