Plug May Be Pulled On Crawfordsville Power Plant

(CRAWFORDSVILLE) - Progress may pull the plug on Crawfordsville Electric Light & Power’s aging power plant.
Crawfordsville Mayor Charlie Coons said, "it looks like the best thing to do is close it."
CEL&P, Indiana's oldest municipally-owned utility, currently buys most of its power from other sources through the Indiana Municipal Power Agency.
Plant Manager Roy Kaser says the plant will close within a year if the IMPA doesn't pay more for the energy generated at the plant.
The Crawfordsville plant serves mainly as a backup energy source.
